Chief Technology Officer

Our client, a midwestern general contractor is seeking a CTO who will be responsible for enhancing and continuously improving the use of cutting-edge technology for all company functions.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the CFO, the CTO will establish the technology vision for the company, lead all aspects of technology development, and manage a current team of six IT professionals to support these initiatives.

The CTO will create and implement the IT infrastructure for the companies, and will identify, analyze, and make recommendations for appropriate technology platforms and applications.  The CTO will work in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as sales, project operations, and finance & accounting as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness.  The successful candidate must have a demonstrated track record of leveraging technology as a strategic enabler to company growth and success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of IT infrastructure across the company
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend appropriate technology platforms and systems to facilitate business activities
  • Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across all organizations
  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support their organizational needs
  • Establish an intercompany information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of each company’s data and servers
  • Establish a cyber security plan to protect the companies from external threats
  • Oversee IT help desk support to ensure IT services are delivered without interruptions
  • Establish governance and control processes to ensure that technology related risks are managed, and the organizations’ resources are adequately utilized
  • Establish and supervise the software / system development process from defining methodology to setting short-term objectives and assessing progress to ensure corporate function requirements are fully met
  • Oversee ERP Manager to ensure uninterrupted delivery of the ERP and that the integrity of the 3rd party applications remain intact
  • Establish service level agreement for all IT services delivered by external vendors and oversee warranties to ensure quality of service is maintained
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop metrics to track and assess technological performanceand measure progress against IT budgets and forecasts
  • Set and agree individual goals for all direct reports and evaluate individual performance providing regular feedback and coaching in line with good people management practices

 

Position Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required
  • MBA or MS preferred
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology
  • Construction, Real Estate, and/or design industry experience is a plus
  • 5 years of management experience
  • Ability to effectively interface and influence team members/leadership at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ERP experience and knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, understand and respond to the needs of the customer
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, best practices, industry trends, and emerging technologies
  • Strong project management skills and facility with project management tools
  • Ability to lead effective and constructive change within the organization
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
